About the Role
The Academic Calendar Project, led by the Provost’s Office, is developing and implementing UNSW’s future academic calendar.
The Senior Project Officer supports project delivery through program and project coordination, tracking and progressing workstreams, analysing complex data and business processes, assisting change management, driving communications, and managing key stakeholder relationships. The role operates across multiple project streams to ensure initiatives advance effectively and align with strategic priorities.
It reports to the Program Manager and has no direct reports.
Responsibilities
The successful applicant will have a demonstrated ability to:
- Coordinate and action project initiatives with the Program team, contributing to charters, timelines, and implementation plans.
- Support delivery of project streams by defining, scheduling, and progressing tasks, milestones, and dependencies.
- Identify operational and stakeholder challenges and work with teams to develop and implement practical solutions.
- Assist with change management activities, including preparing materials, stakeholder briefings, and coordinating workshops or consultations.
- Contribute to communications and engagement efforts to ensure timely, accurate project updates and guidance reach key stakeholders.
- Gather, analyse, and synthesise complex data to support decision-making, reporting, and project planning.
- Facilitate cross-team collaboration by linking work streams and stakeholders and ensuring alignment with project objectives.
- Support project governance and continuous improvement by helping manage risks, implement project management practices, and ensure adherence to UNSW governance requirements.
About You
- Tertiary qualification with relevant experience, or equivalent competence gained through education, training, and experience. Experience in the higher education sector is preferred.
- Strong ability to plan, organise, and coordinate projects, including developing documentation across all project life-cycle stages.
- Proven capability to distil complex data and information into clear, accessible messages for diverse audiences.
- Excellent time-management and organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing deadlines.
- High-level written and verbal communication skills, including preparing project documents, communications, presentations, and clear data displays.
- Strong interpersonal and stakeholder-management skills, including consultation, influencing, negotiation, and effective collaboration.
- Ability to work well under pressure.
- Demonstrated success working collaboratively with colleagues at all levels across an organisation.
