Why The Role Matters:

The Work Integrated Learning (WIL) team supports the development of Faculty initiatives to support and strengthen student engagement programs to positively influence the student experience. This includes identifying, developing and implementing student development opportunities to enhance the student experience and ensure work-readiness. The Work Integrated Learning team is responsible for the placement and professional experience students complete as part of their course requirements.

The Senior WIL Officer (Team Lead) is responsible for managing student readiness / (pre-placement) and administrative support for all Work Integrated Learning courses in the Faculty. This role is multi-disciplinary and provides key support to all staff, students and external stakeholders relating to work placements in accordance with Government, Accreditation and University procedures and requirements.


Accountabilities:

  • Manage the WIL Operations team to ensure effective administration, record keeping and student enquiries are actioned whilst also ensuring work tasks are appropriately prioritised for all WIL courses. Make it matter.
  • Collaborate with the Education Excellence Manager and Senior WIL Officers to develop and lead strategies for continuous improvement. Implementing and integrating solutions into relevant processes including changes to systems, policies and procedures.
  • Responsible for all compliance requirements for NSW Health and Department of Education such as Working with Children Checks, Vaccinations and all other pre-placement documentation
  • Determining eligibility for placement and ensuring students are eligible for placement or referred to Student Nucleus as needed
  • Act as the central point of contact for the front line team, to provide accurate advice regarding WIL courses, schedules and requirements and ensure that documentation and records are in line with accrediting bodies, such as the Department of Education, NESA accreditation requirements and The Australian Social Work Education and Accreditation Standards (ASWEAS).
  • Responsible for the processing and verification of WIL payments for Supervising Teachers, Cooperating Teachers and Liaison Tutors.

Skills and Experience:

  • A bachelor’s degree or an equivalent level of knowledge gained through any other combination of education, training and/or experience.
  • Highly developed analytical skills with the ability to critically assess administrative workflows, address any discrepancies and escalate as appropriate.
  • Substantial experience working in a Customer Service environment with proven experience engaging with a diverse range of stakeholders whilst successfully developing and maintaining strong working relationships.
  • A conceptual understanding of relevant policies, procedures and systems and the ability to improve, implement and integrate these across WIL.
  • Extensive knowledge across all WIL courses, have knowledge of all programs and their requirements, including industry knowledge and accreditation requirements.
  • The ability to solve diverse problems/ enquiries by analysing information where considerable interpretation of existing regulations, policies or procedures is required.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills, including project management, setting priorities, and driving core operational outcomes in a complex fast-paced environment.
  • Highly developed organisational skills with the ability to establish priorities across multiple demands and timeframes across all WIL courses.
