This role sits in our UNSW Legal & Compliance Office, supporting the University to navigate legal matters across all areas.

Why Your Role Matters
As Legal Technologist, you will bring your expertise across legal enterprise software to oversee the day-to-day operations of the contract lifecycle management (CLM) system and other legal technology tools, integrating systems into daily processes to assist with stakeholder operational needs and compliance obligations.

This role will work closely with stakeholders to provide high-level customer service support for users, addressing support requests, troubleshooting issues and creating streamlined processes/workflows that enhance efficiency and compliance.

Supervised by the Legal Technology Manager, this position will support the roll out of best practice across legal technology use and drive operational excellence and efficiency throughout the organisation across our legal and compliance processes.

Key role priorities include:

  • Overseeing daily operations of the CLM, matter management, document management systems, and other legal tech tools.
  • Offering proactive customer service support: providing training, ongoing support and resolving user issues and maintaining workflows/templates.
  • Managing the roll out of system upgrades, system troubleshooting issues, managing licenses and working alongside the IT Support Analyst to address any back-end technical issues.
  • Build dashboards and reports that enhance transparency and provide commercial insights.
  • Continuously review and improve processes to maximise efficiency of legal and ancillary services in alignment with stakeholder needs.
  • Create and maintain training materials and quick guides that help our staff to understand and follow effective processes.
  • You may support project work to support a comprehensive technology roadmap for the Legal & Compliance team, staying updated on emerging legal technologies.


Skills & Experience Summary:
 You will hold a relevant qualification and hold experience gained in law firms, in-house legal teams or alternative legal services, with in an interest in AI, commercial contracts and legal operations alongside the following:

  • Tech-savvy and well-versed in legal enterprise software, tools, and applications, proficient in contract management, legal matter management and document management tools.
  • Experience supporting legal technology systems and projects, with a willingness to learn and adopt new technologies such as workflow, AI and automation systems.
  • High proficiency in Microsoft 365, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and SharePoint, and highly desirable to have skills in Power Platform.
  • Strong attention to detail with a demonstrated ability to work effectively on multiple tasks, meet deadlines, manage time and ensure targeted outcomes.
  •  Demonstrated ability to develop practical and timely solutions to address client needs
  •  Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to develop and foster and influence relationships with team colleagues and with staff at all levels of the organisation.
  • Proven ability to work effectively autonomously and as part of a team.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, strong analytical and problem-solving skills and a calm, considered approach

Senior candidates will hold:

  • Proven ability to plan, organise and co-ordinate projects and tasks and experience in developing project documentation associated with different stages of the project life cycle.
  •  Excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated stakeholder management skills with the ability to communicate effectively with a variety of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to work both autonomously and collaboratively whilst prioritising tasks in a fast-pasted and demanding environment.
  • Excellent time management skills, with a demonstrated ability to respond to changing priorities, manage multiple tasks and meet competing deadlines by using judgement and initiative.
  • Knowledge and understanding of business processes, ideally within a tertiary education environment, change management and human centred design principles.
  • Advanced written and verbal communication skills, with demonstrated experience in creating PowerPoint presentations and stakeholder update packs.
