This role sits within our Legal & Compliance team who provide trusted advice on all legal matters affecting the University and upholds the University’s Legislative Compliance Framework

Why Your Role Matters: 
UNSW is seeking a lawyer with strong general contractual, commercial background with relevant IT experience to support the University in relation to its information and communications technology legal matters.

You’ll be working closely with our IT function to confidently provide timely and high-level technical advice, including reviewing and advising on agreements to ensure a smooth procurement process from the very start of the project. This is a role where you will be building trusted relationships with our stakeholders across the University, offering a solution-oriented and collaborative approach.

This role sits reports into the Head of Major Research Initiatives, IT & Philanthropy Law to assist UNSW in navigating legal matters across this portfolio.

Who you are: 
You will hold a tertiary qualification in a law and have a minimum of 5 years experience ideally with at least 2 years specialising in technology and communications procurement and the confidence to act autonomously as trusted advisor on legal matters in this area.

  • Admission to the Supreme Court of NSW and current practicing certificate. 
  • Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities and complex matters. 
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build successful and collaborative stakeholder relationships. 
  • Demonstrated strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to act proactively in respect of legal practice. 
  • Strong business acumen and capability deliver high level Legal support required in the achievement of business objectives.
  • A collegiate and client centric approach to further the team’s objectives.
  • Existing experience in advising on the use of NSW Government standard ICT procurement documents would be highly regarded.
