This role sits in our Culture and Capability team in the People and Culture function who work to broaden learning and development offerings for all our staff.
Why your Role Matters
As Learning & Development Consultant in the Culture & Capability team, you will bring a strategic lens to support the design of initiatives and programs that ensure the professional growth and capability development of our academic and professional staff.
Appreciating the diversity of the workforce, you will utilise local expertise to manage the design, delivery and evaluation of high-quality learning initiatives within our learning frameworks, and programs to create sustainable, high-impact learning initiatives that readily leverage digital platforms and resources to develop skills and capability.
Reporting to the Head Learning and Development, you will create forward-thinking training initiatives that cater to the varied needs of our workforce and learning needs.
Key focuses of the role include:

Designing and delivering enterprise-wide learning initiatives that strengthen UNSW’s organisational learning culture and align with strategic priorities.

Consulting with senior leaders and stakeholders, identifying future skill needs and developing tailored solutions that support organisational goals.

Facilitating learning programs and creating resources, utilsing technology to provide scalable, accessible opportunities for staff development and career growth.

Evaluating and continuously improve learning systems and processes, using data insights to enhance effectiveness, streamline workflows, and boost efficiency across UNSW.
Skills & Experience Summary: We’re looking for a Learning and Development specialist who has experience in overseeing the design, implementation, and evaluation of innovative programs within large and diverse organisations, particularly comfortable with utilising technology to deliver staff training at scale.
You’ll hold the following skills and experience:
- Relevant tertiary qualification with substantial relevant experience or equivalent competence gained through any combination of education, training and experience.
- Knowledge of adult learning principles and instructional design, with a focus on creating inclusive, accessible, and impactful learning experiences.
- Demonstrated experience in end-to-end management of learning programs, including facilitation both face-to-face and online.
- Demonstrated skills and experience in using digital learning platforms including authoring tools and LMS.
- Proven ability to build effective stakeholder relationships and consult with senior leaders and diverse groups to meet organisational needs.
- Strong facilitation skills, including the ability to present confidently and manage group dynamics.
- Strong analytical and evaluation skills, with the ability to measure impact and apply insights to improve learning outcomes.
- Demonstrated organisational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- An interest in and passion for staff capability and learning and development initiatives, and ability to be a positive contributor to organisational culture and change.
- Advanced written communication skills, with a high level of attention to detail or communications, resource development, project planning and reporting
