The ACTivate Teachers will be responsible for the delivery of individual H Course units to ACT Year 11 and 12 students, in collaboration with the Pathways and Access Program Coordinator and UNSW Faculty staff.
This role will:
- Deliver high-quality face-to-face teaching to ACT Year 11 and 12 students in accordance with ACT BSSS curriculum and UNSW academic standards.
- Design and develop learning activities, assessments, and feedback mechanisms in collaboration with UNSW academics.
- Marking and moderation of assessments, including participation in BSSS moderation meetings.
- Demonstrate a well-defined teaching philosophy that inspires and supports student learning.
- Provide academic and pastoral support to students individually and as a cohort to promote progression and achievement.
- Support course administration, including academic quality assurance and compliance with UNSW and BSSS requirements.
- Participate in UNSW ACTivate staff meetings and mandatory training.
- Engage in program induction activities for both UNSW and BSSS.
- Other duties within the scope of the classification, as requested.
- Align with and actively demonstrate the Code of Conduct and Values.
- Ensure hazards and risks psychosocial and physical are identified and controlled for tasks, projects, and activities that pose a health and safety risk within your area of responsibility.
A person engaged is generally expected to have the following skills and experience:
Mandatory Requirements
- Current registration with the ACT Teacher Quality Institute (TQI), or eligibility for mutual recognition from another state or territory.
- Working With Vulnerable People (WWVP) registration or eligibility to obtain.
Qualifications and Experience
- Familiarity with teaching Linux and Windows Operating Systems, including command-line interface.
- Familiarity with basic networking, configuration and troubleshooting (routing, switching, networking protocols, etc.).
- Familiarity with the fundamental concepts and principles of cyber security.
- Relevant tertiary qualifications and teaching experience in secondary education, preferably within the ACT system.
- Demonstrated understanding of ACT BSSS curriculum and assessment practices.

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with strong attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively, managing competing demands effectively.
- An understanding of and commitment to UNSW’s aims, objectives and values in action, together with relevant policies and guidelines.
- Knowledge of health & safety (psychosocial and physical) responsibilities and commitment to attending relevant health and safety training.
