- Duration: Continuing Professorial appointment, plus Discipline lead will be for an initial 3-year term
- Remuneration: $237,784 base, plus Discipline lead allowance (+ 17% Super, Leave Loading)

School of Population Health
The School of Population Health (SPH) at UNSW is internationally recognised as a leader in public health and health systems education and research. The School delivers high quality education in public and global health, and health leadership and management and has research strengths across a range of health disciplines, including infectious diseases and immunisation, health services and implementation research, and global health. SPH has a core focus to investigate and provide new knowledge to help inform policy, governance, organisation, work, and leadership in the health sector through cross-disciplinary research with both academia and industry. The School works with communities to improve health in Australia, our region and globally, with a focus on equity, diversity and social justice. SPH also has strong associations with research centres and institutes throughout UNSW Medicine & Health.
The School is co-located in the Randwick Precinct’s flagship Health Translation Hub, working alongside key research groups and centres, including the International Centre for Future Health Systems (ICFHS) and the George Institute.
Why this role matters
This position will play a key role in the School, leading and advancing outstanding nursing education and research at national and international level. As Professor and Discipline Lead, Nursing, you will lead the development, delivery, and enhancement of high-quality nursing education for the Faculty. You will also foster strong research partnerships and advance the reputation of UNSW through interdisciplinary research in health systems and nursing, ensuring alignment with national priorities, workforce needs, and UNSW’s Progress for All strategy. The position reports to the Head of School, Population Health.
Key skills and experience required:
- A PhD in Nursing or related discipline, and/or relevant work experience.
- Evidence of academic excellence in nursing education and research, with a national/international profile.
- Registered Nurse eligible for registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA).
- Experience with curriculum accreditation and alignment with NMBA and TEQSA standards.
- Demonstrated experience in teaching and learning design using a range of pedagogical approaches, development and delivery of courses and programs, at undergraduate and/or postgraduate level.
- Evidence of teaching effectiveness and passion for educational excellence and fostering this in others.
- Demonstrated experience with industry or work-integrated learning.
- Evidence of professional development of teaching practice in self and others with the ability to advance and lead an inclusive culture of excellence in learning and teaching.
