The Opportunity

The Australian Carbon Materials Centre (A-CMC) has a research only opportunity for an Associate Professor. In this role you will make original contributions to the research in the area of material science, carbon science technology, catalysis for clean energy, advanced composite materials, and computation/modelling. This position will contribute to the A-CMC in the School of Chemical Engineering and work collaboratively within the Australian Research Council Centre of Excellence for Carbon Science and Innovation. Academics at this level may be appointed in recognition of marked distinction in their area of their research or scholarship.

This role reports to the Professor Liming Dai and has no direct reports.

  • Salary, Level A - $185,917 to $204,218 per annum + 17% superannuation
  • Full time
  • Fixed-term contract – 12 months

Skills & Experience

  • A PhD in a related discipline, such as Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, or Chemistry, and/or relevant work experience.
  • Proven commitment to proactively keeping up to date with discipline knowledge and developments.
  • Significant track record in research leadership with outcomes of high quality and high international impact with clear evidence of the desire and ability to continually achieve research excellence and deliver research leadership.
  • Demonstrated research expertise in carbon science technology, catalysis for clean energy, advanced composite materials, and computation/modelling.
  • Demonstrated academic excellence and outstanding contribution to research and scholarship.
  • Demonstrated leadership in building engagement and partnerships with the profession and industry.
  • Evidence of highly developed interpersonal and organisational skills.
  • An understanding of and commitment to UNSW’s aims, objectives and values in action, together with relevant policies and guidelines.
  • Knowledge of health and safety responsibilities and commitment to attending relevant health and safety training.
