Why your role matters

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Admissions Team Leader to join the Division of Education and Student Experience within the Registrar and Student Services (RaSS) portfolio. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for the day-to-day operational management of applications and admissions across several university faculties. You will lead a team of up to nine Admissions Officers, providing guidance, support, and professional development to ensure the delivery of high-quality service.

Reporting directly to the Manager, Admissions Operations, you will play a key part in driving efficiency, fostering a collaborative team environment, and supporting the university's student admissions goals.

Specific accountabilities for this role include:  

  • Manage, lead and develop direct reports and casual staff within an environment that promotes respect, accountability, quality service and facilities, and fosters initiative and innovation.
  • Supervise, allocate, manage and monitor the workload of the team daily and over the longer term (yearly cycle).
  • Liaise with other Admission Team Leaders to ensure selection decisions are fair, consistent, transparent and in line with University policy and external regulations.
  • Provide guidance to Senior Admissions Officers and Admissions Officers regarding direct applications, to ensure the Admissions Office meets all service level agreements in regard to turnaround times on application processing and admissions enquiry management.
  • Develop and maintain stakeholder relationships and effective communication channels with faculties to ensure team members and the relevant faculties are provided with the most up to date admissions information available.

About You:    

  • A relevant tertiary qualification and 5 years’ experience or an equivalent level of knowledge gained through any combination of education, training and experience.
  • Proven ability to train and develop staff to deliver a high level of service, to lead and motivate a team, and influence staff that are not direct reports.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to liaise effectively with all levels of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Prior experience successfully dealing with a variety of stakeholders from a variety of cultural backgrounds.
  • Highly developed customer service skills with an innovative approach to go the extra mile.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in an organised, accurate manner with excellent attention to detail and experience with large-volume and peak processing periods/workflows.
  • Advanced level of computer literacy with excellent skills in Microsoft Office applications and databases (e.g. CRM, student management systems).
  • Demonstrated capacity to contribute positively to and accept change in a dynamic working environment.

This role requires availability to work over Christmas/New Year period and occasional weekend and after-hours work.
