About the Human Resources Business Partnering (HR BP) Team: Our HR Business Partnering Team plays both an operational and strategic role partnering with people leaders at UNSW enabling them to achieve their people strategy and furthering meaningful work we do at UNSW as a leader in teaching and research. Each Faculty or Division of the University has a dedicated HR BP team led by an HR Business Partner and is supported by HR Consultants and HR Officers.

Why Your Role Matters:
As a HR Business Partner in our professional divisions, you will lead your HR function in providing a dedicated and tailored HR service for your cohort, offering operational and strategic support to achieve their people strategy and support staff throughout their employee lifecycle.

Bringing a forward-thinking HR lens, this role collaborates closely with senior leaders to shape and deliver progressive HR initatives and services alongside our wider People and Culture function. With each Faculty/Division granted a dedicated Business Partnering team to service their HR needs, you’ll enjoy working with a sizable and collaborative cohort of peers across the university.

Your Day to day:

  • Lead and develop your HR team (HR Consultants and Officers) to provide high quality HR advice.
  • Initiate and build effective partnerships with clients and proactively support them.
  • Implement strategic HR activities, including workforce planning and change, organisational design, talent management and succession planning.
  • Assist clients to develop contemporary recruitment and global mobility strategies.
  • Advise on performance management and the application of the Enterprise Agreement
  • Partner with the broader HR specialist teams to provide expert, tailored advice and offerings.
  • Work closely with the Head of HR Business Partnering to contribute to the overall HR strategy and projects to develop our HR function.

This role reporting into the Director of People & Culture Business Partnering and oversees dedicated HR Consultants and Officers (x 3).

What sets you apart from the rest?

  • A relevant degree coupled with significant contemporary generalist HR experience.
  • Experience in successfully leading a team of HR professionals.
  • Up to date knowledge of recruitment, performance management, succession planning, global mobility, remuneration and benefits, industrial relations, organisational development and workplace diversity HR practices and legislation.
  • A natural influencer with the ability to coach and inspire people and lead HR best practice.
  • Experience partnering with people to deliver high quality, professional and consistent HR services.
  • Confidence in developing and implementing effective HR solutions and initiatives.
  • A contributor to the broader organisation through projects and collaboration
