Why your Role Matters
As Head of Remuneration and Reward, you will drive the design and delivery of the University’s remuneration, benefits and rewards strategy. Developing strong partnerships across faculties and divisions, you’ll oversee strategic and operational management of remuneration policies for our diverse workforce that balance stakeholder need for agility, alongside a drive for simplification and standardisation that delivers on strategic priorities.
Reporting into Director, Culture and Capability, you’ll work collaboratively to shape the future HR policies that support a dynamic and future-ready workforce. This role has two direct reports overseeing position classification and job grading.
Key focuses of the role include:
- Leading the continue development of UNSW’s remuneration and reward strategies, ensuring alignment with the University’s values and strategic goals.
- Building on our comprehensive total rewards offering, addressing pay structures, bonuses, benefits, and recognition programs.
- Managing employee benefits to enhance wellbeing and engagement of our diverse workforce.
- Overseeing global mobility policies to ensure they meet operational needs and compliance requirements.
- Fostering strong cross-functional relationships and collaborating with faculties and divisions to embed an effective application of position classification and job grading frameworks.
- Ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, industry benchmarks, and internal policies across all reward and remuneration initiatives.
Skills & Experience summary: We’re looking for a leader in the remuneration space with extensive experience in diverse and complex organisation with the confidence to implement remuneration and rewards frameworks that balance operational needs and UNSW priorities, holding the following skills and experience:
- Tertiary qualifications or relevant experience and/or an equivalent level of knowledge gained through any other combination of education or training.
- Extensive experience in remuneration and benefits management, preferably within a complex organization or the higher education sector.
- Proven track record in global mobility, position classification, and total rewards strategy development.
- Exceptional leadership skills with a demonstrated ability to drive cultural change and promote a growth mindset.
- Extensive experience in change management and leading large scale organisational change.
- Strong knowledge of relevant legislation and compliance frameworks in Australia and globally.
- Demonstrated experience collaborating with colleagues and project teams to design, implement and refine Remuneration and Rewards modules as part of a larger IT system transformation and implementation.
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to use data to inform strategy and decision-making
