Why Your Role Matters:
The Senior Manager Financial Control (Business Process Optimisation) supports a range of improvement initiatives that drive optimal efficiency and strengthen financial controls. This is an opportunity to drive change in collaboration with senior leaders at UNSW.

The role will report to the Director, Financial Control & Compliance to develop a comprehensive understanding of the opportunities and challenges resulting from current policies, procedures, practices and deliver and actionable roadmap and framework for future processes. 

 Responsibilities: 

  • Lead the implementation and delivery of the University’s Financial Control Framework
  • Provide expert advice on policies, guidelines, procedures
  • Present and delivery improvement opportunities through actionable roadmaps and a reporting.
  • Foster collaborative and productive working relationships providing expert advice. 
  • Liaise closely with the Finance System team and other Senior Finance Leaders in Peoplesoft enhancement projects by optimising process efficiency and key controls.
  • Lead a chart of accounts review including re-design of financial processes in support of critical reporting requirements for the Group
  • Manage the UNSW Financial Control Framework reporting for assigned stream, including budget and timeline guidance, and risk management.

 Who You Are: 

  • Tertiary qualification and CA or CPA Qualification
  • Experience managing multi-faceted corporate finance functions in a large organisation
  • Significant senior management experience leading complex projects
  • Extensive knowledge of legislative and statutory reporting and other requirements
  • Experience interpreting and applying policy and guidelines
  • Well-developed communication, interpersonal, and stakeholder management skills
  • Critical attention to detail and ability to deliver results in line with required deadlines
  • Experience in delivering exceptional customer service and developing outcomes
