Why Your Role Matters

This new position plays a key role in the development and implementation of ‘Co-NNECTIONS’ (CoNX), a program designed to build successful outcomes for students from diverse backgrounds at UNSW. The role will work closely with the Head, UNSW Co-op Program and Project Officer, Student Engagement, contributing to the design and delivery of employability linked co-curricular programs and initiatives for this cohort. An important focus for the role will be sourcing professional opportunities and internships, tailored to meet the specific needs of underrepresented students at UNSW including Low Socio-Economic Status (LSES), First in Family (FIF), Rural/Remote, , Gateway or Refugee background and Indigenous students.

The successful person will report to the Head, Co-op Program and has no direct reports. The role is funded for three years.

Main responsibilities Summary

  • Act as the central point of contact for students and industry partners in Co-NNECTIONS
  • Manage CoNX outreach and marketing pieces including the website and social media
  • Collaborate with Project Officer, Student Engagement to ensure clear communication with the Start@UNSW/equity cohort
  • Contribute to the development and delivery of professional modules for Co-NNECTIONS
  • Identify new and leverage existing partnerships for CoNX student experience  , and report on industry engagement with CoNX cohort
  • Source, facilitate applications for and support students in internships, ensuring completion of relevant documentation
  • Collaborate closely with UNSW Employability, Student Life, Nura Gili and engage with university units and stakeholders to develop and support opportunities for the cohort
  • Organise community building and networking opportunities for students, including alumni engagement.
  • Monitor program efficacy and provide feedback for policy development to support underrepresented students
  • Maintain detailed records and ensure the effective management of the program, including budget management
  • Implement UNSW Health and safety management system and equal opportunity principles within your area of responsibility

Who You Are

We are looking for someone who is aligned with UNSW’s vision and values, with a strong service orientation and excellent interpersonal, influencing and communication skills. We’d love you to come equipped with:

  • An understanding of the lived experiences and challenges of students from diverse backgrounds, particularly Low Socio-Economic Status and regional/remote backgrounds; prior experience supporting and working with those cohorts is highly desirable
  • Demonstrated experience and creativity in designing, developing, facilitating, and evaluating innovative programs, activities, resources and/or services that create a sense of community
  • Advanced written and verbal communication skills, including proven ability to develop and deliver reports, presentations, workshops and resources
  • Demonstrated success in the development, delivery and collaborative co-design of student experience, engagement, transition programs and initiatives with a range of different people or transferable skills if no higher education background
  • Advanced organisational and time management skills, attention to detail and accuracy
  • Highly proficient computer literacy and experience working with a range of computer systems and applications, with preference for Qualtrics, Simplicity, SharePoint, Microsoft Dynamics CRM

Working hours are Monday to Friday, business hours with occasional events outside those hours. Whilst there is some flexibility to work from home, most of the work must be done at UNSW Kensington campus (at least 3 days per week).

Whilst you may see this role advertised more broadly, the successful candidate will need to be based in Sydney NSW, and have full working rights – this role is not available for sponsorship. All candidates will need  to either have, or be willing to obtain, a police check and working with children check.
