Why Your Role Matters

The position is a key member of the ISD leadership group and leads their team in the delivery of UNSW Library’s learning and teaching services to academic staff and students. The Team Leader, Academic Engagement works with their team to continuously improve service delivery in response to client and stakeholder feedback and is required to analyse, evaluate and report on service delivery. The successful candidate will work with teams collaboratively across the Library. 

Focused on enhancing digital literacy and study skills, the Team Leader, Academic Engagement, works closely with the Academic Engagement Education Services Librarians and leads the Academic Engagement Team in developing and implementing teaching services aligned with the Library’s Digital Information Skills Framework. The role requires strategic planning, effective resource management, and fostering strong stakeholder relationships to deliver innovative and high-impact library services.

The Team Leader, reports to the Associate Director, Academic Engagement, and leads the Academic Engagement team. 

Who You Are

  • A degree from a higher education institution with substantial relevant experience or any other equivalent combination of knowledge, training and/or experience. Eligibility for Associate membership of the Australian Library and Information Association would be well regarded
  • Demonstrated experience in planning, analysing and evaluating delivery of high-quality library information services.
  • Demonstrated organisational experience to manage and lead a professional team in a dynamic and complex working environment
  • Sound understanding of information management issues and challenges facing academic and research libraries.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and presentation skills.
  • An understanding of and commitment to UNSW’s aims, objectives and values in action, together with relevant policies and guidelines.
  • Knowledge of health & safety (psychosocial and physical) responsibilities and commitment to attending relevant health and safety training.
