Why Your Role Matters:

The Program Coordinator will play a key role within the Kirby Institute’s Immunovirology and Pathogenesis Program (IVPP), which conducts a range of research focusing on how the human immune system responds to infectious agents, specialized immunological and virological tests and projects related to pathogenesis and the development of therapies.

The Program Coordinator will facilitate project management and provides administrative support for research on immune responses to infections and related areas. They will play a critical role in managing the IVPP program and supporting the BRIDGE and H2Seq consortiums.

The Program Coordinator position is within the Immunovirology and Pathogenesis Program  and reports to Scientia Professor Anthony Kelleher.

Skills and Experience:

  • Relevant tertiary qualification with subsequent relevant experience or equivalent competence gained through any combination of education, training and experience.
  • Demonstrated experience providing administrative and research support with the ability to work well under pressure with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a high level of attention to detail for deliverables produced.
  • Excellent time management skills, with a demonstrated ability to respond to changing priorities, manage multiple tasks and meet competing deadlines by using judgement and initiative.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and productively within a team, but also to take initiative and work independently while managing competing demands and problem-solving.
  • Project experience, with an understanding of the project life cycle and development of project plans, objectives and documentation.
  • Highly developed understanding of the need to maintain confidentiality and of the sensitivities of the research subject matter of IVPP.
  • Experience working with a range of computer systems and applications, including MS Office (including PowerPoint and Excel).
  • An understanding of and commitment to UNSW’s aims, objectives and values in action, together with relevant policies and guidelines.
  • Knowledge of health & safety (psychosocial and physical) responsibilities and commitment to attending relevant health and safety training.
