Join a leading research team at UNSW Business School, where you'll contribute to cutting-edge work on modelling and managing retirement, aged care, and health risks. This post-doctoral role focuses on developing actuarial models that address mortality, morbidity, and long-term care, with real-world applications in policy and product design. You'll work closely with the Research Stream 3 Lead and collaborate with experts to inform the future of aged care and retirement systems in Australia.

This position is part of the Knowledge Hub and offers a unique opportunity to apply your research skills to impactful, data-driven projects. If you're passionate about using actuarial science to shape innovative, cost-effective solutions for retirement income and care.

This role is funded through the Knowledge Hub, located within the UNSW Business School.

The role of Post-Doctoral Fellow reports to the Knowledge Hib Director, with a dotted reporting line to the Research Stream 3 Lead and has no direct reports.

 

Responsibilities:

Responsibilities in this role include but are not limited to -

  • Develop models for mortality, morbidity, and aged care risks in retirement
  • Build and assess software, databases, and modelling tools
  • Analyse data and communicate findings clearly
  • Contribute to research papers, abstracts, and grant applications
  • Collaborate with academic, industry, and government partners
  • Participate in team meetings and cross-disciplinary discussions
  • Publish high-quality research in journals and conferences

 

Who You Are:

  • PhD in actuarial studies or a related field (e.g. statistics, risk management, economics, quantitative finance)
  • Proven research experience in aged care, longevity, or health risk
  • Strong skills in data analysis and computational modelling
  • Excellent written communication, including research paper writing
  • Experience presenting research at conferences or invited talks
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively across disciplines
