Social Media Officer (China)

  • Remuneration: Level 5 $85,717 - $96,992 (pro rata) + 17% super + leave loading

The Social Media team within the Marketing & Content pillar drives UNSW's social media strategy, covering strategic advice, content creation, editorial planning, community management, and reporting.

Reporting to the Social Media Specialist, International, the Social Media Officer (China) plays a key role in supporting the management of UNSW’s Chinese social media communities and delivering engaging, consistent content. Key responsibilities include assisting in implementing the university’s social media strategy for China, creating in-language content with a clear brand voice, managing community interactions, and collaborating with internal stakeholders to deliver high-value content and social media support.

Who you are:

  • Relevant tertiary qualification with subsequent relevant experience or equivalent competence gained through any combination of education, training and experience, including experience in community managing Chinese social channels, or an equivalent level of knowledge gained through any other combination of education, training and/or experience.
  • Mandarin language skills are essential for this China-focused position, as well as an understanding of its cultural landscape and various social media channels.
  • Proven experience in supporting a social media strategy – managing communities and creating content for Chinese social media platforms including WeChat, Weibo and rednote.
  • Demonstrated ability to create high-quality social content.
  • Advanced level of using editing and design tools for WeChat. Experience using photo editing software like Photoshop and Canva and/or basic video editing is desirable.
  • Good understanding of user behaviour on social platforms; knowledge of changes and trends in social.
  • Demonstrated organisational and time management skills – the ability to manage multiple social communities and projects at once, and the flexibility to work outside standard office hours when needed.
