The primary purpose of the Senior Functional / Test Consultant is to support the design, build, test, deploy and hyper care support phases for the Admissions Transformation Program during the implementation of new technology and business processes for Application and Admissions services at UNSW.
This role exercises substantial personal responsibility and autonomy to meet given objectives and processes and works within a clear framework of accountability.
Makes decisions which influence the success of the project. Collaborates regularly with team members, users and customers and engages to ensure that user needs are being met throughout.
The role requires someone with a detailed understanding of higher education business process and subject matter in the Applications and Admissions domain. Prior experience implementing Application and Admissions related applications. Experience with implementing or integrating PeopleSoft Campus Solutions 9.2 and StudyLink.
This position will report to the Functional Lead and at relevant times the Test Lead and Support Lead for the Admissions Transformation Program.
Specific accountabilities for this role include:
- Provide functional support to the Project
- Configuration of target state systems
- Prepare and execute testing across various test phases such as System, System Integration
- Provide input to Change Impact Assessments
- Support end-user training
- Assist preparation and execution of transition from Project to BAU
- Prepare and execute Hyper Care associated with cutover.
- Analyse, resolve and test defects
- Support Developers and Technical Teams
- Develop effective working relationship with internal and external stakeholders to develop innovative solutions that meet project needs.
- Partner with customers to design and develop solutions to meet business needs.
- Coach and mentor more other staff within immediate and wider teams, such as Functional Analysts and Business teams, to support development their business knowledge and functional expertise.

Skills and experience
- Prior experience with the implementation, integration and testing of StudyLink and PeopleSoft Campus Solutions applications from a functional and/or testing perspective
- Prior experience with preparation and execution of transition from Projects to BAU
- Prior experience engaging across functional, technical, SMEs and senior management.
- Strong interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills. Able to develop effective relationships and influence key stakeholders at all levels in the organisation.
- Proven ability to exercise independent judgement and problem solving with the ability to resolve and address issues as they arise.
- Knowledge of health and safety responsibilities and commitment to attending relevant health and safety training.
