This role sits within the UNSW Division of Societal Impact, Equity and Engagement (DSIEE) leading UNSW’s efforts to make a positive and lasting impact on society, promoting equity and social justice, and driving engagement activities which enhance UNSW’s reputation as a key contributor to society through its research, teaching, and community engagement.
Why your role matters:
As Program Curator, you will play a crucial part in shaping the University’s internal and external event programs as well as the related digital content, with a special emphasis on UNSW’s prestigious Centre for Ideas. You’ll work at the forefront of developing impactful public keynote talks, engaging panel discussions, and strategic event partnerships to extend our reach to diverse audiences and build the profile of our thought-leadership initiatives.
Working closely with the Strategic Events leadership team, you will identify compelling global and local speakers and topics to be showcased at UNSW. By cultivating and maintaining your own diverse network of UNSW and external contacts, your role will seek to highlight opportunities for collaboration and innovation as you design, plan and deliver a comprehensive series of events and programs, monitoring and evaluating their success to align with DSIEE’s purpose.
The Program Curator reports to the Senior Manager, Event Programs with a dotted line report to the Director of Strategic Events.
Who you are: An experienced curator committed to excellence, creativity and collaboration. Practiced in curating and designing large events, coordinating cross-functional teams, and ensuring a best-in-class experience for attendees, you’ll hold the following skills and experience:
- Demonstrated experience working as a curator in tertiary education, events, media, arts or equivalent competence gained through any combination of education, training and experience.
- Proven ability in developing and curating events and programs with a creative flair and know-how.
- Proven ability in mentoring speakers/academics, writing promotional copy and developing scripts.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects/deadlines, and their operational impacts and risks to ensure they are delivered on time with efficient use of resources.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with both strong written and verbal ability.
- Demonstrated ability to build and sustain effective collaborative professional relationships and
- partnerships, including those with external senior stakeholders.
- Demonstrated understanding of marketing and publicity for an events program.
- Demonstrated understanding of how social media and digital content relate to an events program.
- Ability to manage a team and implement effective workflow and people management strategies
