Why Your Role Matters:

As an Associate Lecturer / Lecturer you will carry out activities to develop scholarly research and professional activities both nationally and internationally and contribute significantly to achieving the teaching and service mission of the School of Art & Design.

You will maintain a strong profile within Ceramics design, theory and practice and contribute to the development and delivery of courses in Ceramics Design, Object Design for Circular Economy, and/or interdisciplinary practice. The role will contribute to advance the School’s profile by scholarly research, creative practice and/or publishing and by teaching and developing a range of undergraduate and postgraduate courses offered at UNSW Art & Design.


The level on appointment will be commensurate with the candidate’s qualification and experience.


The role reports to the Head of School.

 

Accountabilities

Specific accountabilities for this role include (but are not limited to):

Level A:

  • Demonstrate and continuously develop a well-defined teaching philosophy that inspires student learning;
  • Conduct classes, assess student learning achievements and support students in postgraduate and undergraduate courses in line with UNSW policy, including but not limited too conduct of tutorials, practical classes, demonstrations, workshops, student field excursions, preparation and delivery of lectures;
  • Design and develop learning activities and resources, and assessment and feedback using a range of suitable approaches and learning environments, as well as feedback from senior academics.
  • Initiate the development of experimental approaches to teaching and learning with the support of more senior academics;

 

Level B (in addition to the above but not limited to):

  • Initiate the development of experimental approaches to teaching and learning with the support of more senior academics.
  • Create scholarly impact that is recognised by peers in the advancement of disciplinary knowledge.

 

About you

Skills and Experience

Level A:

  • A PhD in a related discipline, and/or relevant work experience;
  • Actively stays up to date with discipline knowledge and professional development
  • Demonstrated experience in teaching and learning design, development and delivery at undergraduate and/or postgraduate level.
  • Experience using and/or designing with educational technologies and online delivery methods
  • Evidence of highly developed interpersonal and organisational skills

 

Level B (in addition to the above but not limited to):

  • Demonstrated knowledge of industry or experience of work-integrated learning (desirable)
  • Evidence of teaching effectiveness and a passion for educational excellence.
  • Demonstrated track record in research with outcomes of high quality and high impact with clear evidence of the desire and ability to continually achieve research excellence as well as the capacity for research leadership.
