About the Role
The Lead Integration Solution Architect is responsible for defining target-state architecture and enabling the seamless integration of systems across designated business and technology domains within UNSW. The role leads the development of integration strategies, solution designs, patterns, and standards to support consistent and effective delivery within these domains.
The role sits within the Integration team in the Corporate Services division and is accountable for the delivery of new integration solutions, as well as the ongoing management of existing solutions and the integration platform.
This position reports to the Head of Integration and has no direct reports.
Responsibilities
- Define and lead enterprise integration strategies and end-to-end architectures to enable seamless connectivity across on-premise, hybrid, and multi-cloud environments.
- Design, implement, and oversee secure, scalable, and high-performing integration solutions, including APIs, event-driven and microservices-based architectures on platforms such as Microsoft Azure.
- Establish and enforce integration principles, standards, patterns, and best practices to ensure consistent and high-quality solution delivery.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to delivery teams, ensuring adherence to architectural, security, and quality standards throughout implementation.
- Engage with business and technical stakeholders to translate requirements into target-state integration architectures, roadmaps, and solution designs.
- Contribute to integration project planning, estimation, documentation, and continuous optimisation of existing solutions to improve efficiency, performance, and cost-effectiveness.
- Lead architectural and security governance activities, collaborating with enterprise architects and technical teams to ensure alignment with organisational architecture and risk frameworks.
About You
- Tertiary qualifications in IT or a related discipline, with 12+ years’ experience in software development and solution delivery across cloud-based architectures and middleware platforms.
- Extensive hands-on experience designing and implementing integration solutions using Microsoft Azure integration services and data platforms, including API Management, Event Grid, Logic Apps, Service Bus, Functions, and Azure data services.
- Strong expertise in API and web service development (REST/JSON, SOAP/XML), with a solid understanding of application, API security, and privacy controls.
- Experience with DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines, supporting automated build, test, and deployment of integration solutions.
- Proven capability establishing and managing integration design practices, including integration patterns, registers, and system integration landscape artefacts.
- Highly developed analytical, problem-solving, and quality assurance skills, with experience applying system testing and software quality methodologies to integrated solutions.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and time-management skills, with a demonstrated ability to work effectively across organisational levels while managing competing priorities and deadlines
