Research Analysis, Data and Reporting (RADAR) is a dedicated unit established to support the goal of continuously improving UNSW’s position as a leading research-intensive university in Australia. It is responsible for reporting on the University’s research activity and performance, its position in various world university rankings, enhancing and maintaining the Division’s research metric tool ‘BORIS’, and providing divisional support for research applications together with business improvement and integration services to ensure all systems are effectively meeting business requirements.
The Principal Solutions Analyst plays a key role in shaping and delivering technical initiatives that enhance research administration and advance research excellence. This position provides best practice expertise across vendor engagement, system implementation, analytics, automation, and data architecture, enabling the delivery of robust & scalable technical solutions that support strategic research priorities. The role reports to the Director and may have direct reports depending on the project.

Who you are
You can demonstrate your deep higher education sector experience and understanding of research excellence, research systems, and research administration. You’ve successfully implemented enterprise-wide systems and reporting solutions, managing complex integrations, data governance, and sustainable operational frameworks using a wide range of technologies, including SQL, Python, Power BI, cloud data platforms, API integrations, and AI tools.
Your excellent consultation, negotiation, and influencing skills enable you to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders, while your analytical and problem-solving abilities allow you to develop proactive and robust solutions. You communicate with clarity and precision, both in writing and verbally, and collaborate effectively across all organisational levels. You manage your time efficiently, handle multiple priorities, and meet deadlines through sound judgement and initiative.
You are also committed to UNSW’s values, policies, and objectives, and you uphold high standards of health and safety, attending relevant training as required.
