The Senior Integration Engineer is responsible for the core integration platform as well as for the development of services using the platform. This includes the implementation of new core integration requirements as well as supporting projects using the integration platform. The position will report to the Head of Integration and has no direct reports.
Specific accountabilities for this role include:
- Lead hands-on development / configuration or coordinate the implementation with internal IT Teams and selected vendors. This includes delivery of central integration components as well as components to be integrated into business applications.
- Enhance the UNSW IT standard integration platform based on Microsoft technology stack.
- Analyse specified requirements and architectures to design appropriate objects and methods to implement specified functional and non-functional requirements.
- Guide developers and coordinate with internal organisational units (e.g. Architecture, Service Management, Application owners) as well as suppliers during implementation.
- Lead the collaborative creation and iteration of viable specifications and acceptance criteria in preparation for the deployment of information and communication systems.
- Coordinate infrastructure or integration platform changes to integrate applications into the technology landscape
- Design and implement Web Service interfaces, and implement integration logic (orchestration, transformation) in the Microsoft Azure Platform.
- In collaboration with Architect’s review application software for compliance with integration standards and conformance with agreed architecture
- Recommend/design structures and tools for systems which meet business needs and takes into account target environment, performance and security requirements and existing systems.
- Translate logical designs into physical designs and produces detailed design documentation.
- Specify and develop test scenarios to test those new/updated processes deliver improved ways of working for the end user at the same time as delivering efficiencies and planned business benefits.
- Proactively manage complex risks, issues and financials, and work with the team to ensure appropriate solutions are in place.
- Support leadership in optimising the way in which the Application Integration Services work, including practices, organisation, and resourcing to promote team dynamics and opportunities for continuous improvement.
Skills and Experience:
- Tertiary qualifications in IT or related discipline together with 5+ years’ experience in software development using Cloud & architectures and middleware components.
- Experience with applying a diverse array of synchronous and asynchronous integration patterns (e.g. API, ESB, ETL) in the appropriate settings.
- Experience defining and managing an integration design practice including integration patterns, register, and system integration landscape diagrams.
- Experience designing and implementing solutions using Azure integration services (API Management Gateway, Event Grid, Logic Apps, Service Bus, Function Apps)
- Demonstrated capability as an integration specialist using Microsoft Azure platform covering Apps Services , Azure Data factory , Data Lake and Data Bricks.
- Experience with Planning, designing, and deploying Azure IaaS, PaaS and SaaS deployments, migrations, network, and security frameworks.
- API development using REST/JSON, SOAP/XML, Web service.
- Strong understanding of application and API security and privacy controls. • Experience with Dev Ops and CI/CD tools.
- A sound knowledge of system integration methods, products, tools, development life cycle and the impact of integrated solutions on it.
- Has a proven track record of working within appropriate project management methodologies utilising the best of Waterfall and Agile.
- Strong knowledge of system testing and software quality assurance practices and methodologies as applied to integrated solutions.
- Comprehensive analytical and problem-solving skills and proven capacity to exercise initiative, flexibility and to be proactive in development of robust solutions to problems.
- Advanced written and verbal communication skills, with a high level of attention to detail for deliverables produced.
- Demonstrated success working effectively and collaboratively on initiatives with a range of people at different levels within an organization.
