About us
The UNSW Discipline of General Practice leads the delivery of educational and research activities aimed at improving the care of people in primary and community healthcare settings.
The discipline contributes to the education of the next generation of doctors through the UNSW Doctor of Medicine program, conducts primary and integrated care research, contributes to postgraduate teaching, supervises ILP/Honours and Higher Degree by Research students and works with professional organisations to build capacity in primary care research, education and continuous professional development.
Details of the role
We are looking for a Research Fellow / Senior Research Fellow to manage the ‘MyMedicare for older adults living in residential aged care homes: mixed-methods evaluation’ project and supervise research officers in conjunction with the investigators. This includes leading the project operations team, which includes the investigators, research officers based at UNSW and collaborating institutions. This also includes managing the ethics and governance applications and processes, and liaising with the key stakeholders, applying for access to datasets, participant recruitment and involvement in other data collection and analysis activities.
A Research Fellow (Level B) is expected to carry out independent and/or team research within the field in which they are appointed and to carry out activities to develop their research expertise relevant to their particular field of research.
A Senior Research Fellow (Level C) is expected to make independent or original contributions to the research effort within their field of research expertise and to the organisational unit or inter-disciplinary area of which they are part. An academic at this level is expected to play a major role in research including the exercise of some leadership in research.
The role of Research Fellow / Senior Research Fellow reports to the Associate Professor and has no direct reports.
Skills and Experience
Skills and experience required for this position at Level B and level C include:
- A PhD in a related discipline, and/or relevant work experience.
- Proven commitment to proactively keeping up to date with discipline knowledge and developments.
- Demonstrated track record in research with outcomes of high quality and high impact with clear evidence of the desire and ability to continually achieve research excellence as well as the capacity for research leadership.
- A track record of significant involvement with the profession and/or industry.
- High level communication skills and ability to network effectively and interact with a diverse range of students and staff.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a team, collaborate across disciplines and build effective relationships.
- Evidence of highly developed interpersonal and organisational skills.
- An understanding of and commitment to UNSW’s aims, objectives and values in action, together with relevant policies and guidelines.
- Knowledge of health and safety responsibilities and commitment to attending relevant health and safety training.
