Remuneration: Academic Level A or Level B $88K- $123, 620 per annum (based on experience) + 17% Super + Annual Leave Loading

Location: Wagga Wagga, New South Wales

The Associate Lecturer/Lecturer in Biomedical Sciences (Rural) will play a key role in the delivery of high-quality teaching and support in Biomedical Sciences at the rural campus. The role involves active contribution to teaching, laboratory coordination, and the provision of comprehensive technical support, including resolving complex technical issues and maintaining laboratory equipment, compliance records, and safety documentation. A demonstrated interest in rural health education and a commitment to supporting local hospital and community health outcomes are essential for this position.

 The role of Associate Lecturer/ Lecturer, Biomedical Sciences, Rural will report to the Director of Medical Education at the identified rural campus location and has no direct reports.

Skills Required:

At Associate Lecturer (Level A)

  • An MBBS and/or undergraduate degree in a relevant medical sciences field and/or a PhD in a relevant medical sciences field with subsequent relevant work experience and professional expertise.
  • Actively stay up to date with discipline knowledge, technical expertise and professional development of teaching practice.
  • Evidence of teaching effectiveness in biomedical sciences and laboratory procedure, and a strong commitment to rurally focussed teaching.
  • Demonstrated experience and technical knowledge in laboratory management, set-up and use, equipment and maintenance including regulatory compliance and safety management.
  • Evidence of sound interpersonal and organisational skills and the ability to engage students from diverse backgrounds.

At Lecturer (Level B, in addition to the above)

  • Evidence of experience in large and small group teaching with demonstrated commitment to teaching excellence and supervision at undergraduate and/or post-graduate level with a focus on biomedical sciences.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of information technologies for the support of basic and clinical medical sciences, including eLearning.
  • Emerging research interest with peer-reviewed publications.
  • Strong communication skills and an ability to network effectively and engage with students and staff, including in a collaborative team environment and across disciplines.
