Why your role matters
This pivotal role provides high-level executive support to the Director and collaborates closely with other key stakeholders across the University. The Executive Officer plays a vital part in shaping and advising on governance frameworks that facilitate effective decision-making, while ensuring that all activities align with UNSW policies and compliance requirements.
In this role, you will contribute meaningfully to both strategic and operational initiatives across the portfolio, playing a key part in advancing its strategic objectives. Reporting directly to the Director, this position offers a dynamic and influential opportunity within a forward-thinking team. This role does not involve any direct supervision of staff.
Specific accountabilities for this role include:
- Proactively advise, influence and contribute to the business planning and objectives of the RaSS Services Portfolio, whilst exercising discretion, initiative and confidentiality at all times.
- Initiate and/or manage projects and ensure the involvement of appropriate stakeholders. Monitor actions to ensure the efficient follow-through, resolution and closure of the projects.
- Ensure the operations, strategies and businesses of the Portfolio are consistent with the overarching Strategy of the University and ensure that appropriate governance is followed in line with University policies.
- Support the Registrar & Director Student Services to manage and deliver strategic and operational goals through the provision of strategic advice, project management and the development of policies, procedures and proposals.
About You:
- Relevant tertiary qualification with subsequent extensive relevant experience or equivalent competence gained through any combination of education, training and experience.
- Experienced leader with proven skills and experience in strategic and resource planning within the higher education, goal setting and project management.
- Demonstrated success designing and delivering strategies, programs and initiatives.
- Excellent consultation, influencing and negotiation skills and proven ability to engage effectively with diverse internal and external stakeholders.
- Superior written and verbal communication skills, with a high level of attention to detail for deliverables produced.
- High level organisational skills with proven ability to deal with multiple tasks, establish priorities and meet deadlines.
- Advanced level of computer literacy, working with a range of computer systems and applications, including Microsoft 365 and Visio.
- An understanding of and commitment to UNSW’s aims, objectives and values in action, together with relevant policies and guidelines.
- Knowledge of health & safety (psychosocial and physical) responsibilities and commitment to attending relevant health and safety training.
