Why your role matters
We are looking for an experienced Program & Change Manager to lead the planning, change management, stakeholder engagement, and evaluation of the Nexus Program within the Pro Vice-Chancellor Education Portfolio. This strategic initiative aims to enhance the student experience through the integration of educational developers and EF Academics into faculties and schools, focusing on areas like Assessment and Feedback, Wellbeing, Learning Technologies, Work Integrated Learning, Societal Impact, and Diversity.
The role involves collaborating with senior leaders across faculties and divisions to implement and evaluate education initiatives, bridging central university divisions with academic and professional staff. You will report to the Director of Educational Innovation and Partnerships and lead a team of up to two direct reports, while overseeing a community of 50+ staff.
This position requires strong change management and communication skills, along with a proven ability to drive large-scale educational transformation.
Specific accountabilities for this role include:
- Provide strategic leadership and advice regarding the delivery of the Nexus Program to achieve the program objectives, benefits and value.
- Develop and execute master plan for the program, including the schedule, key milestones, budgets, interdependencies, risks, and change.
- Lead the development of strategic communications including reports and recommendations to deliver critical messages to key stakeholders regarding project status, issues and developments, and the evaluation and continuous improvement of initiatives.
- Provide regular internal and external program reporting to the Steering Committee and governance bodies including Academic Board and University Leadership Team on the program scope, schedule, resourcing, finances, risks, issues, and benefits realisation.
- Develop and drive forward program change management strategy and plans, including communications and education, that enable faculties and schools to adopt, embed and drive changes in teaching and the student experience.
About You:
You will have tertiary qualification and extensive higher education experience or an equivalent level of knowledge gained through any other combination of education, training and/or experience alongside:
- Extensive experience managing a large program in a dynamic, changing, and complex organisation.
- A strong background in governance and substantial demonstrated experience working with and delivering work according to a range of project management methodologies and techniques.
- A strong understanding of the student lifecycle and related systems and processes, and how these intersect with the student experience.
- Excellent written communication skills with proven ability to write and present concisely and persuasively to an executive audience as well as experience in the delivery and execution of high- quality committee papers, reports and proposals that include recommendations to senior stakeholders.
- Experience in influencing, leading and motivating professional and academic staff, with an ability to work collaboratively to quickly establish and maintain a high level of personal and professional credibility with the wider team.
- Demonstrated high-level ability to manage and drive continuous improvement, problem solve, identify risks, and respond flexibly to changing circumstances.
- Strong financial management experience and literacy, experience managing large scale budgets and controlling income and expenditure for a project.
- Sound understanding and consistent application of project management competencies including scope, time, cost, quality, HR, communications, cost, risk, procurement and integration.
- An understanding of and commitment to UNSW’s aims, objectives and values in action, together with relevant policies and guidelines.
- Knowledge of health and safety responsibilities and commitment to attending relevant health and safety training.
