Senior Project Manager (Faculty of Medicine & Health)

  • Employment Type: Full - time (35 hours a week)
  • Duration: Fixed Term until 30th April 2028 (possibility of extension)
  • Remuneration: $148K - $157K base (+ 17% Superannuation and leave loading)
  • Work rights: Visa sponsorship is not available for this position. Candidates must hold full rights to work in Australia to be considered for this position. 
  • Location: Kensington, Sydney (3 days office based)

UNSW Medicine & Health

UNSW Medicine & Health is a national leader in learning, teaching and research, with close affiliations to several of Australia’s finest hospitals, research institutes and health care organisations. With a strong presence at UNSW Kensington campus, the faculty have staff and students in teaching hospitals in Sydney as well as regional and rural areas of NSW including Albury/Wodonga, Wagga Wagga, Coffs Harbour and Port Macquarie. 

It is a very exciting time to be joining the Faculty with an ambitious new faculty strategy soon to be launched and many faculty staff moving into the new Health Translation Hub building where this role will be based.

Why this role matters  

This will be a pivotal leadership role within Medicine & Health, shaping and delivering projects that will have faculty-wide impact. A key focus will be project managing the successful implementation of the new Academic Calendar and related initiatives. You will be responsible for developing project frameworks, building and coordinating effective teams, and driving delivery through strong stakeholder engagement, quality assurance, and alignment with the faculty’s strategic priorities. Working across the faculty, you will collaborate with a diverse community of academic and professional staff to ensure the effective delivery of these projects.

Key skills required:

  • Relevant tertiary qualification with subsequent relevant experience or equivalent competence gained through any combination of education, training and experience.
  • Proven advanced project management experience, with an in-depth understanding of the project life cycle and strategic development of project plans, objectives and documentation.
  • Tertiary education project management experience is highly desirable
  • Excellent consultation, influencing and negotiation skills and proven ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders to achieve successful outcomes.
  • Demonstrated strong analytical and problem-solving skills and proven capacity to exercise initiative, flexibility and to be proactive in development of robust solutions to problems.
  • Advanced written and verbal communication skills, with a high level of attention to detail for deliverables produced.
  • Demonstrated success working effectively and collaboratively on initiatives with a range of people at different levels within an organisation.
  • Knowledge of budgeting and resource allocation procedures.
  • High level of experience working with a range of computer systems and applications, including Office 365 and AI tools such as Copilot and ChatGPT.
  • Excellent time management skills, with a demonstrated ability to respond to changing priorities, manage multiple tasks and meet competing deadlines by using judgement and initiative.
