Research Program Manager – Quality Use of Medicines (QUM)

  • Employment Type: Full - time (35 hours a week)
  • Duration: 1 year Fixed-Term contract with possibility of extension
  • Remuneration: $127,351 -$135,421 base, plus 17% superannuation and leave loading 
  • Work rights required: Visa sponsorship is not available for this position. Candidates must hold full rights to work in Australia to be considered for this position.

The role will be based at the new state-of-the-art Health Translation Hub working with academics across the School of Health Sciences, School of Clinical Medicine, and the National Drug and Alcohol Research Centre.

The Opportunity

Join a nationally recognised research team focused on improving the quality use of medicines (QUM) and contribute to impactful health outcomes across clinical, academic, and policy sectors.

We are seeking a highly motivated Research Program Manager to provide strategic and operational leadership across a portfolio of multidisciplinary QUM research and education projects. This role supports the day-to-day running of projects, research strategy, manages funding applications and grants, ensures compliance with ethics and governance frameworks, and facilitates knowledge translation to maximise research impact.

You will work closely with researchers across Australia and internationally to ensure the successful delivery of research projects aligned with the program’s objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the planning, execution, and delivery of research projects, ensuring alignment with strategic goals and timelines.
  • Manage research funding applications and grants, including coordination of collaborators and documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with ethics, governance, and regulatory requirements.
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary teams and foster collaboration across clinical, academic, and policy sectors.
  • Monitor project progress, budgets, risks, and deliverables, and report to stakeholders.
  • Support data collection, management, and analysis to achieve research outcomes.
  • Facilitate dissemination of findings through publications, presentations, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Represent the research program at internal and external meetings and advisory groups. This may include interstate or international travel throughout the year.

Skills and Experience

  • Relevant Master’s degree or equivalent experience in research project management.
  • Demonstrated experience managing complex research projects across the full project lifecycle.
  • Advanced written and verbal communication skills, with experience in preparing written reports and publications.
  • Strong understanding of ethics and regulatory compliance in health and medical research.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Experience in budgeting, financial management, and data analysis.
  • High-level proficiency in project management tools and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic research environment.
