Why your role matters

We are seeking a dynamic Program Officer, Study Abroad, to join the Learning Abroad team in the University Office of Global Affairs Portfolio within the Office of the Vice-Chancellor and President. This role is essential in delivering practical and efficient program support to the Study Abroad team, students, and a wide range of stakeholders.

The Program Officer will be responsible for supporting inbound Study Abroad Coursework and Research Practicum Programs through effective coordination, data reporting and analysis, and the development of engaging communications. A key focus of the role is building and maintaining strong relationships with internal and external partners while also providing vital administrative support across various programs and projects.

This position plays an important part in enhancing the experience of inbound Learning Abroad students and contributing to the wider UNSW student journey. The role reports to the Manager, Study Abroad and does not have any direct reports.

Specific accountabilities for this role include:  

  • Coordinate the delivery of programs, projects, events, and initiatives including communications, promotion, monitoring progress and deliverables, in alignment with time, cost and quality metrics.
  • Develop, foster, and maintain highly effective working relationships with staff and teams in the portfolio, faculties and divisions and other internal and external stakeholders.
  • Provide appropriate referrals for pastoral care and welfare of study abroad students, liaising with internal stakeholders for additional support services as required.

About You:  

  • Relevant tertiary qualification with subsequent relevant experience or equivalent competence gained through any combination of education, training and experience.
  • Advanced written and verbal communication skills, with a high level of attention to detail for deliverables produced.
  • Demonstrated success working effectively and collaboratively on initiatives with a range of people at different levels within an organisation.
  • Advanced level of computer literacy with experience working with a range of computer systems and applications, including MS Office (in particular excel, word, office), Peoplesoft, databases, email and other internet-based systems.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills, accuracy, and attention to detail, with a demonstrated ability to respond to changing priorities, manage multiple tasks and meet competing deadlines by using judgement and initiative.
  • Demonstrated experience in event/project/program coordination with an understanding of the project life cycle and development of project plans and objectives including managing logistics, promotions, communications documentation and reporting.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and productively within a team, but also to take initiative and work efficiently and independently to identify, analyse and resolve administrative issues ensuring effective outcomes and process improvements.
  • An understanding of and commitment to UNSW’s aims, objectives and values in action, together with relevant policies and guidelines.
