Position Summary:
The Senior Project Officer works closely with academic and professional staff and the teams within schools, Centre’s and Faculty Operations to coordinate priority projects. The successful appointee will hold strong project management skills, enabling them to effectively support diverse projects. This individual will demonstrate a keen ability to adapt these skills across various business areas, showcasing a strong willingness to expand their knowledge and understanding of different facets of the school. They will work closely with the Associate Dean Accreditation, Rankings & Enhancement to oversee project deliverables, create project planning documentation, be part of stakeholder engagement and quality assurance in support of the objective of continuous improvement. The role of Senior Project Officer reports to the Office of the Faculty Executive Director, currently Strategic Implementation Manager.
Accountabilities:

- Contribute to the delivery of operational and strategic goals relating to faculty projects enabling the university to deliver academic excellence, social engagement and global impact.
- Facilitate an effective governance and reporting structure supported by high quality documentation and service excellence.
- Provide planning input to and work across multiple, concurrent projects including scoping, broad stakeholder management, implementing effective project management and methodology, communications plans, identifying and proactively managing and mitigating risks, reporting and evaluation.
- Achieve project milestones and deadlines within budget and to required standards, while coordinating multiple projects simultaneously with complex interconnections to deliver on outcomes.
- Contribute to the development of communication and engagement plans, in close consultation with Project Sponsor/Owner and School leadership.
- Support engagement with multiple levels of stakeholder groups across the faculty to implement identified new practices defined/approved by Project Sponsor/Owner.
- Contribute to a culture of continuous process improvement, initiates and embraces change and ensures that solutions are embedded into the University.
- Deliver consistent, accurate and customer focused advice on emerging project issues to solve diverse project-related enquiries from academic and professional staff, referring to UNSW policy and procedures as required.
Skills and Experience:

- Relevant tertiary qualification with subsequent relevant experience or equivalent competence gained through any combination of education, training and experience.
- Proven project coordination experience, with an in-depth understanding of the project life cycle and strategic development of project plans, objectives and documentation.
- Affinity with Project Management methodologies such as Waterfall, PM², PMBOK, Prince, Agile methodologies. Formal PM qualifications are seen as desirable.
- Demonstrated strong analytical and problem-solving skills and proven capacity to exercise initiative, flexibility and to be proactive in the development of robust solutions to problems.
- Sound stakeholder management skills, demonstrating success working collaboratively on initiatives with a range of people at different levels within an organisation.
- Demonstrated experience in effectively preparing project documentation, processes and reports, and advanced competency in the use of Microsoft Office and project coordination applications.
- Excellent time management skills, with a demonstrated ability to respond to changing priorities, manage multiple tasks and meet competing deadlines by using judgement and initiative.
