Why your role matters
This role sits within the Finance Business Partnering function at UNSW. The team is dedicated to delivering end-to-end finance services to our Faculties and Divisions and operates as central and trusted source for financial guidance and services.
We're seeking a Finance Business Analyst to join the FBP team supporting the financial activities for the UNSW Business School. Working as a trusted advisor, you’ll bring a practiced understanding of financial management to support your client group in making forward thinking and sound business decisions across financial processes, risks, and opportunities. Offering dedicated guidance and support to stakeholders, you will ensure financial processes and responsibilities are understood.
Your day-to-day will include:
- Delivery of financial management activities:
- planning
- forecasting
- reporting
- analysis activities
- Development of financial modelling and scenario analysis and advice.
- Working collaboratively with your business area to create financial plans, report financial performance and monitor expenditure.
- Investigating of variances to budget and forecasts.
- Identifying, reporting and managing financial risks and opportunities
- Cost benefit analysis activities in the development of business cases.
- Providing guidance and support to stakeholders across financial processes and responsibilities
The Finance Business Analyst position reports to the Finance Manager for the client group and has no direct reports.
Skills and Experience: You’ll hold substantial professional sector experience coupled with relevant qualifications (CA or CPA qualification or equivalent) alongside:
- Strong experience in core and complex financial management and financial control processes, insight driven analysis and modelling, providing accurate operational advice, and delivering financial services.
- Demonstrated ability to take a client-focused approach when analysing, interpreting and integrating large sets of data.
- Highly developed audience appropriate communication, interpersonal, and stakeholder management skills.
- Extensive working knowledge of analytical tools, in particular, a high level of proficiency in Microsoft Excel and its application in financial modelling and analysis.
