Why your role matters
We are seeking an Engagement Officer to join our team and play a key role in fostering strong relationships with schools and effectively communicating the purpose and value of our pre-tertiary educational outreach program. This program, designed by Student Equity, includes in-school, online, and on-campus components aimed at engaging schools and students.
The Engagement Officer will work closely with the Students as Partners and Learning Experiences teams to support the training of University Ambassadors and provide feedback on in-school workshop content. The role will also supervise University Ambassadors participating in the program, ensuring its successful delivery, although it does not involve ongoing staff management responsibilities. The Engagement Officer will report directly to the Engagement Lead.
Specific accountabilities for this role include:
- Ensure the effective engagement of students and schools in the widening access program - this will include work in Sydney and regional NSW.
- Provide efficient scheduling, coordination, and communication with schools to meet necessary deadlines and key performance indicators of the program.
- Participate in the development of action research and program evaluation and support the collation of data and reporting.
- Prepare and draw upon qualitative and quantitative data to inform program design, reporting and evaluation.
About You:
- A relevant degree and experience, or an equivalent level of knowledge gained through any combination of qualifications, training and experience.
- Superior knowledge of teaching and learning pedagogy to facilitate pre-tertiary learning experiences.
- Excellent stakeholder management and written and verbal communication skills to ensure positive student and school engagement in the program.
- Ability to build and maintain positive working relationships with a wide variety of people including University staff and students, and external partners.
- Demonstrated high level ability to plan, schedule and manage projects within set timeframes and allocated resources.
- Demonstrated high level organisational administrative skills including the ability to prioritise own tasks and operational needs, and work autonomously as required.
- Demonstrated high level project reporting, action research and program evaluation skills.
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the Australian school and University systems and contextual issues for schools and students from low SES backgrounds.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and adaptively, show initiative, solve problems and contribute to the development of evidence- informed strategies for the work area.
- A full and unencumbered driver's licence and the ability and willingness to work outside of normal working hours and work at locations across Sydney and NSW.
- An understanding of and commitment to UNSW’s aims, objectives and values in action, together with relevant policies and guidelines.
