We are seeking a dynamic and visionary leader for the position of Director, Educational Innovation and Partnerships at UNSW. This pivotal role is central to driving and enabling educational innovation across the university, ensuring our students receive an exceptional educational experience.

The Director will foster collaborative innovation to enhance the student experience and improve learning outcomes through strong partnerships with faculties. By connecting Faculty and Divisional initiatives and promoting capability building, the Director will play a key role in creating a cohesive approach to educational excellence.

Leading the Education Innovation Hub within the Pro Vice-Chancellor Education portfolio, the Director will support impactful and purposeful innovation. This includes developing and recognising innovators, engaging with internal and external stakeholders, and leading a high-performing team dedicated to advancing the university’s educational innovation goals in alignment with UNSW’s new strategic direction.

As a champion of world-class pedagogy and education technology, the successful candidate will have a proven track record of driving transformative educational innovation in a complex matrix environment. Reporting to the Pro Vice-Chancellor (Education), the Director will lead a team of 2-3 direct reports while making a significant contribution to UNSW’s mission of delivering educational excellence.

Specific accountabilities for this role include:  

• Lead and enable educational innovation, both pedagogical and technological, across UNSW to identify, enable and support educational innovation. 
• Understand the demand for education innovation and foster collaborations across the University to cultivate cutting edge ideas that exist.
• Elevate innovators from across UNSW to develop a national and international profile.
• Build relationships nationally and internationally within the education innovation network that make a measurable and positive contribution to the curriculum, student experience, student employability and industry professional development requirements.

About You:                    
You will have tertiary qualification and extensive experience in leading educational innovation with an understanding and appreciation of the complexities of enabling innovation in a large tertiary institution alongside:

• A breadth of vision and understanding of changing student and staff needs that encompasses the range of areas and sub-disciplines within the Division of Education and Student Experience, with capacity and ability to articulate, lead and manage change to achieve strategic goals.
• Evidence of leading and enabling educational excellence and innovation, driving strategic initiatives and change to deliver an exceptional student experience for diverse cohorts and learning modes. 
• Excellent stakeholder management skills with the ability to build and maintain effective internal and external working relationships, influence leaders and liaise effectively with a range of stakeholders to ensure successful outcomes.
• Extensive knowledge of current pedagogical approaches with substantial experience of application to course, program and curriculum development for undergraduate, postgraduate and life-long learning contexts.
• Extensive experience in people leadership, development, engagement and management, with the demonstrated skills to motivate inspire, and mobilise diverse teams to create a positive workplace culture and deliver quality outcomes. 
• Advanced strategic and operational skills to conceptualise, develop and oversee the implementation of strategic and innovative initiatives including evidence of effective budgeting and fiscal management in accordance with portfolio and strategic priorities, working with a broad range of stakeholders and partners within and outside the organisation.
• High level organizational and prioritization skills with proven ability to manage multiple tasks, establish priorities, develop key success criteria and empower team members to meet critical deadlines.
• Demonstrated ability to attract internal and external funding to support educational initiatives.
