We are seeking a Lead Evaluation and Reporting Analyst to play a pivotal role in supporting mixed-methods evaluation for Student Equity. The position will lead the design of mixed-methods program evaluation in line with the theory of change, the authoring of evaluation reports, and the communication of key recommendations to enhance program effectiveness. Working closely with the Evaluation and Reporting Manager and Program Lead – Student Equity, the role involves leading the qualitative data capture and analysis at a program level and will support broader programs of work and strategic initiatives with research outputs. Collaboration with team members to evaluate program impact and promote continuous improvement is a key aspect of this role, along with possessing experience in qualitative data collection and analysis.

The Lead Evaluation and Reporting Analyst reports to the Evaluation and Reporting Manager and operates without direct reports.

Specific accountabilities for this role include:  

  • Author high quality, accurate and timely evaluation reports, conduct program review meetings and regularly engage with the wider Student Equity work area to support the continual improvement of programming based on evaluation findings.
  • Ensure that theories of change and evaluation strategies for the work area are documented and updated based on new evidence, and work with the wider Student Equity work area to ensure that initiatives are informed by evidence-based theories of change.
  • Develop and distribute evaluation surveys and analyse complex qualitative data from students, teachers and equity practitioners, drawing out key themes, and clearly communicate the findings and implications with internal and external audiences.
  • Manage the preparation and organisation of evaluation documentation and reporting to meet internal and government requirements using a variety of software to a professional standard (Microsoft Suite).

About You:     

  • Relevant tertiary qualification in evaluation or applied social sciences, or an equivalent level of knowledge gained through a combination of education, training and/or experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing theories of change and designing and implementing evaluation of learning initiatives for young people from diverse socio-cultural backgrounds or equity initiatives more broadly.
  • Demonstrated experience in analysing and reporting on in-depth qualitative data for program development and evaluation.
  • Well-developed written and oral communication skills, including experience writing clear and compelling reports and communicating insights from complex data.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing qualitative data collection methods and survey instruments.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively and collegially both within a team and with minimal supervision.
  • An understanding of and commitment to UNSW’s aims, objectives and values in action, together with relevant policies and guidelines.
