The National Collaborative Research Infrastructure Strategy (NCRIS) is an Australian program that enhances national NRI investments through coordinated open access, targeted specialties, and co-funding. UNSW hosts several NCRIS partners, including the Australian Research Data Commons (ARDC), providing Australian researchers with competitive advantage through data, which is co-located with Research Technology Services (ResTech) at UNSW.

In partnership with ARDC, UNSW is seeking a Manager, Program Design & Delivery. This role, within the National Coordination Business Unit, supports ARDC’s strategic objectives by managing, monitoring, and delivering multiple national-scale projects and programs.

The Manager, Program Design & Delivery will lead program design and delivery activities, addressing challenges and working closely with the ARDC’s Project Management Office, Business Unit Management, and senior Strategic Pillar Managers to define necessary resources. You’ll also participate in ARDC planning activities to ensure efficient team resource allocation and address resource contentions according to ARDC procedures.

This role reports to the Executive Director, Restech, with a dotted line to the Director, National Coordination (ARDC), and will have 2 direct reports within UNSW and manage approximately 15-25 external ARDC staff within the National Coordination Business Unit. The ARDC’s matrix organisational structure means staff management responsibilities are shared with other team and program managers.

Who you are

You have specialist knowledge in an area of national digital research infrastructure or a related discipline and can demonstrate your extensive leadership and people management skills in a culturally and geographically diverse environment, with the ability to lead, engage, and empower diverse teams, manage change, and prioritise workloads effectively. Experience in leading large-scale complex programs, with a strong understanding of program management methodologies, tools, and techniques in a digital research infrastructure setting, is crucial.

You ‘ll also be able to demonstrate excellent organisational and time management skills, strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, and the capacity to work in a dynamic environment with competing priorities. You should possess strong consultation, influencing, and negotiation skills, with a proven ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders to achieve successful outcomes.
