We’re searching for a forward-thinking Director of Learning Experience to support our new Lifelong Learning (LLL) Strategic Business Unit.

About the Role

The Director of Learning Experience is a key leadership role in UNSW’s new LLL Strategic Business Unit and will help position UNSW to become a leader in leader in lifelong learning. Reporting to the Dean, Lifelong Learning, the successful applicant will possess and have experience in:

  • Designing and implementing a distinctive, world class learning experience across all areas of lifelong learning. This includes but is not limited to award programs focussed at working professionals, programs developed for organisations and short courses and micro-credentials developed for individuals.
  • Work alongside the Dean of LLL and the leadership team to refine and implement UNSW’s LLL strategy.
  • Create an efficient and high quality process for the design, development and maintenance of courses delivered through LLL and to ensure faculty delivering on these programs are well supported.
  • Working with the Senior Manager, UNSW Online to manage the development, delivery, and maintenance of high quality courses across the portfolio of specialist masters programs. This involves managing the relationship with third party providers.
  • Support the expansion of award programs delivered through UNSW Online.
  • Develop a model of learning experience that can be applied to short course offerings that meets the needs of the learners and will work with third party providers to implement this model.
  • Engage across Faculties and Divisions at UNSW, especially the Division of Education and Student Experience, to build understanding of the learning experience required to service the needs of lifelong learners.

 

About You

  • Relevant tertiary qualification with extensive experience or equivalent competence gained through any combination of education, training and experience. 
  • Outstanding track record of success in delivering high quality learning outcomes including to adult learners and to private or public sector organisations
  • A good understanding of the higher education context and a strong track record of achieving strong results in a complex, mulitstakeholder environment
  • Experience leading the development and implementation of major strategic initiatives in areas directly relevant to LLL
  • Expertise in learning design and curriculum development, including experience in establishing and effectively operating educational development capabilities that are aligned to the needs of lifelong learner
  • Experience in establishing and implementing high quality support for both individual learners and learners who are members of organisations.
  • Appreciation of different learning modes and the effective use of educational technology to support high quality learning in a LLL context
  • Experience in establishing relationships with third party suppliers and evidence of effectively managing these relationships to produce quality outcomes
  • A demonstrated ability to work across organisational boundaries in a complex organisational setting to develop and deliver high quality outcomes
