Why your Role Matters
The Employee Relations (ER) Officer is part of the Employee Relations team, which is responsible for providing timely and accurate advice to UNSW management and the People & Culture team on a range of employee relations and industrial relations issues.
The role will contribute to the development of human resources and employee relations practices, policies and procedures at UNSW. The Employee Relations Officer will also play a key role in supporting the Head, ER Advisory / Conduct & Complaints, and the team as required, with a range of matters, including case management, industrial disputes and projects. Your focus will be:
- Provide proactive, accurate and timely advice in line with enterprise agreements, policies and procedures
- Manage the ER shared mailbox and triaging of matters via CaseIQ
- Prepare and review correspondence for the ER team including draft Deeds of Release, workplace change related correspondence
- Administer various review processes related to compliance matters including casual conversion, fixed term conversion, and conflicts of interest.
- Prepare various reports including in relation to case management and other review processes
Skills & Experience summary:
We’re looking for an experienced ER Officer, in the ER or HR space, with excellent administrative skills, strong organisational abilities, and confidence working with systems and databases to join a team passionate about being trusted advisors in the promotion of a culture of respect and integrity.
You will hold the following skills & experience:
- Tertiary qualifications in a relevant field of study (HR or industrial relations) or equivalent relevant experience.
- An understanding of employee relations and the ability to interpret and apply relevant laws, agreements, policies and procedures.
- Ability to build effective working relationships and partner with internal clients in providing effective employee relations solutions.
- Good written and oral communication skills with a high level of attention to detail for deliverables produced.
- Intermediate skills in using office software including email, word processing, spreadsheets and experience in using computerised HR systems including data review and general reporting.
- Strong time management skills, with an ability to respond to changing priorities, manage multiple tasks and meet competing deadlines by using judgement and initiative.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively to contribute to a team environment.
