The Opportunity

  • Partner with UNSW IT Project Team
  • Full-time role (35 hours week), fixed term contract to Dec 2025
  •  $138,171 - $146,613 + 17% super + leave loading

UNSW’s petascale enterprise Research Data Experience (RDE) program will establish a fit-for-researcher data storage and data management capability across the entire research data lifecycle to support UNSW's strategic priorities as a top 50 global university.

Initiated in partnership with UNSW IT and Research Technology Services (a unit within the PVC Research Infrastructure portfolio), the multi-year and multi-phase program includes technology selection, procurement, implementation, and operationalisation of the new research data platform(s) and the aligned streams of work covering sensitive data, policy alignment, metadata functions and reporting.

As a part of the Research Technology Services team, the Project Manager will lead and strategize the planning, development, and implementation of projects within the RDE Program. Key responsibilities include: -

  • Develop comprehensive project planning documentation to guide the execution of projects within the RDE Program
  • Identify and assemble appropriate project teams, ensuring alignment with project goals and objectives.
  • Initiate and oversee project execution, ensuring adherence to timelines, budgets, and quality standards.
  • Manage stakeholder engagement throughout the project lifecycle, fostering effective communication and collaboration
  • Conduct regular quality assurance assessments to ensure project deliverables meet defined standards.
  • Ensure alignment of project activities with the strategic direction of Research Technology Services.
  • Collaborate effectively with the UNSW IT RDE Project team to drive program success

Who you are

You’re a tertiary qualified project manager with advanced project management experience, as well as: -

  • Expertise in industry-standard methodologies like Prince2 or PMBOK
  • Ability to manage complex, multi-year, multi-stream projects, aligning with organisational practices
  • Strong consultation, negotiation, and influencing skills to engage diverse stakeholders effectively.
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving skills, with initiative and flexibility in finding robust solutions.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with meticulous attention to detail
  • Success in collaborating with various organisational levels and functions
  • Knowledge of budgeting and resource allocation procedures
  • An understanding of and commitment to UNSW’s aims, objectives and values in action, together with relevant policies and guidelines.
  • Knowledge of health & safety (psychosocial and physical) responsibilities and commitment to attending relevant health and safety training.
