The EF Senior Lecturer – HTH Simulation Centre Director provides strategic leadership and operational oversight for all simulation and skills-based training at the HTH Simulation Centre. This role is responsible for ensuring the delivery of high-quality, evidence-based simulation education, fostering a culture of research and innovation, and strengthening collaboration with both internal and external stakeholders.
Reporting to the Director of Simulation, School of Clinical Medicine, the role leads a small team comprising clinical skills educators and a simulation technician. It works in close partnership with the Director of Medical Education at the Randwick Clinical Campus, as well as academic staff from the Schools of Health Sciences and Optometry and Vision Science, to align simulation activities with the broader educational objectives of the Faculty.
Skills and Experience:
- A PhD in a related discipline, and/or significant experience in simulation-based education.
- A qualification in a relevant health discipline (eg nursing) and maintenance of current registration with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
- At least five years’ experience in simulation-based education, curriculum development and program implementation.
- Demonstrated experience in teaching and learning design using a range of pedagogical approaches, development and delivery of courses and programs, at undergraduate levels.
- High level of experience in the development and delivery of simulated learning in healthcare settings.
- Demonstrated knowledge of the development of simulated learning environments including space and equipment requirements.
- Experience using and/or designing with educational technologies and simulation delivery methods.
- Evidence of teaching effectiveness and passion for educational excellence and fostering this in others.
- Evidence of professional development of teaching practice in self and others with the ability to advance and lead an inclusive culture of excellence in learning and teaching.
- Demonstrated success in initiating curriculum development and improvement.
- Evidence of highly developed interpersonal, organisational and leadership skills.
- Evidence of ability to support and inspire students from diverse backgrounds and support student equity diversity and inclusion initiatives.
- An understanding of and commitment to UNSW’s aims, objectives and values in action, together with relevant policies and guidelines.
- Knowledge of health & safety (psychosocial and physical) responsibilities and commitment to attending relevant health and safety training.
