Why Your Role Matters:
The Machinist will provide and apply specialist knowledge in mechanical engineering, welding, carpentry and vacuum technology whilst providing back-up support in the Schools Liquid Helium Plant.
The Machinist will be principally situated in the mechanical workshop within the School of Science and may be required to assist in the operation of the schools Helium Liquefier in the absence of the Helium Plant Operator The Machinist will provide technical support to teaching and research activities as aligned with the school’s strategic themes, principally through design, development, fabrication and commissioning of engineering components and systems. The machinist will use both practical trade and laboratory skills to contribute to the mechanical workshop’s requirements.
Who You Are (skills and experience):
At a minimum, you will have completed
- A post trade certificate and subsequent relevant experience, OR
a trade certification and subsequent relevant experience.
- Proven experience working in a helium plant
- Proven experience as a machinist in a workshop
