Why The Role Matters:

The Senior Project Officer, Education plays a key role within Arts, Design & Architecture supporting and driving current and future education short course projects. This role is responsible for the planning, development, delivery, and evaluation of a range of professional learning and outreach activities within the Faculty of Arts, Design & Architecture. This role supports the Short Course Manager in project management. Key activities include GERRIC Student Programs, and a continuous calendar of professional learning short courses that are delivered at UNSW, online, and across Australia. The role also focuses on fostering market growth and ensuring alignment with UNSW’s strategic lifelong learning goals.


Accountabilities:

  • Develop and monitor the delivery of Faculty/Division projects and initiatives to achieve operational and strategic goals.
  • Oversee and ensure the development of project plans and schedules, liaising with academic and professional staff within Schools and Centres.
  • Provide advice on aspects of quality in education-based short courses, ensure processes are in place for the continual gathering and monitoring of feedback to ensure academic quality and student experience.
  • Monitor, track and report on the status of project deliverables to ensure time, cost and quality metrics are in line with approved project plans for assigned projects.
  • Provide a high level of proactive project support to project team and stakeholders, with a particular emphasis on the quality of short courses.
  • Foster the growth of identified short course markets through project-related marketing activities, including content creation, promotion and stakeholder outreach to enhance visibility.
  • Assess and manage project risks and issues and provide solutions where applicable.
  • Develop and manage effective communications with key stakeholders, both internal and external to the project, including the coordination of external marketing and promotion campaigns.
  • Coordinate adherence to UNSW governance pathways to ensure projects are managed within a defined, consistent and proven set of rules for project development.


Skills and Experience: 

To be considered you will hold Australian Working Rights or Australian Citizenship. Visa sponsorship is not available for this appointment.

  • Relevant tertiary qualification with subsequent relevant experience or equivalent competence gained through any combination of education, training and experience.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a high level of attention to detail for deliverables produced.
  • Strong understanding of the education marketplace in Australia (e.g. school sectors, funding, policy environment).
  • Demonstrated success working effectively and collaboratively on initiatives with a range of linguistically and culturally diverse stakeholders at different levels within and beyond the organisation.
  • Excellent time management skills, with a demonstrated ability to respond to changing priorities, manage multiple tasks and meet competing deadlines by using judgement and initiative.
  • Strong project management skills including development of proposals and plans, and experience in coordinating the design, delivery and evaluation of programs.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and productively within a team, but also to take initiative and work independently while managing competing demands.
