Position Summary:

The Coordinator, Major Programs plays a key role within the Business School in assisting primarily with the coordination of the delivery and support of the major programs in the Faculty, such as, but not limited to, Bachelor of Commerce and Master of Commerce. The role will work closely with the Associate Deans (UG/PG Programs), course authorities, academic teaching staff, the Education Portfolio, Academics Leads, Program Directors, Career Accelerator & Student Engagement team and School Support teams to ensure the delivery of courses and programs.

The role of Coordinator, Major Programs acts as an independent point of first contact and liaison. The successful candidate will provide program coordination and act as the interface to pull together the consistent delivery of courses in major programs. This includes but is not limited to workload planning, sessional recruitment, marketing/recruitment, quality considerations, and staff and student liaison. The result will be an integrated high standard quality experience for students


Accountabilities:

  • Provide integrated administrative support for major programs, supporting the planning, implementation, review, and documentation of the program. Work collaboratively with cross- functional teams and units to support the day to day running of the program.
  • Work collaboratively and support directives from academic leads and units to gather logistical requirements to develop sustainable processes, documentation and solutions for continuing operations.
  • Connect and align design and delivery outcomes to the operational timelines and activities of the broader Faculty and program.
  • Proactively checking in and monitoring in advance of delivery points, pointing out potential delays and anticipate potential impacts, try to mitigate risks, and improve processes.
  • Contribute to the operational transition and optimisation plans and detailed documentation of all required processes and key timelines and help to attain ‘steady state’ following curriculum innovation.
  • Deliver consistent, accurate and customer focused advice to solve diverse enquiries from academic and professional staff, referring to UNSW policy and procedures as required.
  • Manage, support and troubleshoot issues arising from the course design, development, delivery process, as guided by requirements from the Associate Deans (UG/ PG) and the Education Design and Delivery team.
  • Evaluation, post implementation review and necessary adjustments in conjunction with the Education Design and Delivery team.
  • Provide administrative support to the recruitment process for sessional academic staff and fixed term/continuing academic staff not associated with a school.
  • Under the guidance of the Associate Dean/s, coordinate and support student progression and graduation issues as they relate to major programs.
  • Respond to requests from academic and professional staff and provide proactive advice and solution-focused action in a timely and accurate manner.

Skills and Experience:

To be considered you will hold Australian Working Rights or Australian Citizenship. Visa sponsorship is not available for this appointment.

  • Relevant tertiary qualification with subsequent relevant experience or equivalent competence gained through any combination of education, training and experience.
  • Proven skills in problem-solving and improving processes and procedures, with motivation to apply this to a range of areas.
  • Understanding of Faculty Operations desirable (such as term planning, workload allocations, operational deadlines).
  • Understanding of Business School Programs desirable.
  • Demonstrated experience in effectively preparing project documentation, processes and reports, and advanced competency in the use of Microsoft Office.
  • Strong service orientation with excellent interpersonal and communication skills and demonstrated success building and maintain positive professional relationships with staff at all levels, both internally and externally.
  • Excellent time management skills, with a demonstrated ability to respond to changing priorities, manage multiple tasks and meet competing deadlines by using judgement and initiative.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and productively within a team, but also to take initiative and work independently while managing competing demands.
