Research Manager (Centre for Molecular Oncology)

  • Employment Type: Full - time (35 hours a week)
  • Duration: Fixed Term position until 31 December 2025
  • Remuneration: From $133, 591 base (+ 17% Super, leave loading)
  • Location: Kensington, Sydney   

Why this role matters 

The Research Manager will manage the operations of the Biospecimen and Molecular Sequencing Team and actively develop and implement practices and procedures to support the research activities of the Centre for Molecular Oncology.

Some duties include developing and implementing guidelines, processes and procedures that align and support the research activities of the Centre for Molecular Oncology including the Cancer Screening Program. This role will also perform complex data collection, management and analysis. The role reports to the Deputy Director of the Centre for Molecular Oncology and has 8-9 direct reports.

Some key skills required:

  • Degree with substantial extension of the theories and principles normally requiring extensive relevant graduate experience and a range of direct management experience.
  • Experience working with a range of computer systems and applications, including customised Progeny databases, the Molecular Tumour Board System and Biospecimen apps.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a high level of attention to detail for deliverables produced. Proven ability to influence senior management and stakeholders as appropriate to ensure successful outcomes.
  • Sound influencing and consultation skills and proven ability to interact effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and productively within a team, but also to take initiative and work independently while managing competing demands.
