Why this role matters  

The Student Experience Program has four key workstreams which have a major impact across the university for professional staff, academic staff, students, processes, and systems and address well identified pain points in the UNSW Student Experience. The four workstream are transforming assessment and feedback, improving belonging and onboarding of students, program simplification and student lifecycle processes. The Program and Change Manager needs to work with key senior leaders across the Faculties and Divisions to enable the delivery of these workstreams and realise the program benefits.

 

Key skills required:

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications and extensive industry experience or an equivalent level of knowledge gained through any other combination of education, training and/or experience.
  • Extensive experience in a PMO and managing a program team in a dynamic, changing, and complex organisation.
  • A strong background in governance and substantial demonstrated experience working with and delivering work according to a range of project management methodologies and techniques.
  • A strong understanding of the student lifecycle and related systems and processes, and how these intersect with the student experience.
  • Excellent written communication skills with proven ability to write and present concisely and persuasively to an executive audience as well as experience in the delivery and execution of high quality committee papers, reports and proposals that include recommendations to senior stakeholders.
  • Experience in managing and motivating a team, with an ability to work collaboratively to quickly establish and maintain a high level of personal and professional credibility with the wider team.
  • Demonstrated high-level ability to manage and drive continuous improvement, problem solve, identify risks, and respond flexibly to changing circumstances.
  • Strong financial management experience and literacy, experience managing large scale budgets and controlling income and expenditure for a project.
  • Sound understanding and consistent application of project management competencies including scope, time, cost, quality, HR, communications, cost, risk, procurement and integration.
