Educational Developer, Nexus Program (Faculty of Medicine & Health)

  • Employment Type: Full - time (35 hours a week)
  • Duration: 1 Year Fixed Term position
  • Remuneration: $110k - $119k base (+ 17% Super, leave loading)
  • Work rights required: Full Australian work rights for the duration of the contract
  • Location: Kensington, Sydney

The Organisation

UNSW Medicine & Health   is a national leader in learning, teaching and research, with close affiliations to several of Australia’s finest hospitals, research institutes and health care organisations. With a strong presence at UNSW Kensington campus, the faculty have staff and students in teaching hospitals in Sydney as well as regional and rural areas of NSW including Albury/Wodonga, Wagga Wagga, Coffs Harbour and Port Macquarie.  

Why this role matters  

The Educational Developer, Nexus Program supports the design, development and delivery of quality curriculum in the Faculty of Medicine and Health. This role assists in the implementation and evaluation of teaching methods, technologies and techniques developed or encouraged by the Pro Vice-Chancellor Education Portfolio.

Some key skills required:

  • A degree in education or educational technologies with a depth of subsequent relevant experience in educational design, or other equivalent level of knowledge gained through any other combination of education, training and/or experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing engaging and user-friendly course sites in learning management systems (such as Moodle) including the production of interactive resources and activities utilising a range of appropriate educational technologies that enhance the student experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in higher education course design, development and review, with a focus on technology-enhanced learning, teaching and assessment.
  • Demonstrated experience in planning, developing, facilitating and reviewing professional development programs, activities and services to effectively build individual capability in technology-enhanced learning and teaching.
  • Demonstrated experience delivering high quality customer service, preferably in a university context.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a high level of attention to detail for deliverables produced.
  • Demonstrated success working effectively and collaboratively on initiatives with a range of stakeholders at different levels within an organisation.
  • Excellent project management skills, with a demonstrated ability to respond to changing priorities, manage multiple tasks and meet competing deadlines by using judgement and initiative.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and productively within a team, but also to take initiative and work independently while managing competing demands.
