Senior Statistician, Sydney Brain Centre

  • Employment Type: Part - time (7 hours a week)
  • Duration: 1 Year Fixed Term
  • Remuneration: $138,636 base prorated (+ 17% Super, leave loading)
  • Location: Liverpool Hospital, Sydney.  

Why this role matters 

This role plays a lead and strategic role within the Sydney Brain Centre in the planning, development and implementation of projects across the Sydney Brain Centre.

The role will be responsible for overseeing the statistical aspects of clinical trials and research projects within the Sydney Brain Centre. The position involves closely working with Sydney Brain Centre and affiliated multidisciplinary research teams in the design, development and application of statistical methods with a focus in health economic outcomes.

Some key skills required: 

  • Postgraduate research degree (Master’s or PhD or equivalent) in biostatistics or relevant work experience in a similar role
  • Extensive experience in health policy, health economics, drug/medical device reimbursement and technology assessment in Australia.
  • In-depth understanding of probability and statistics theory.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and experience in statistical analysis of research data.
  • Experience building multivariate models including mixed effects models, parametric survival models, and other regression models.
  • Knowledge of and experience in programming using statistical software programs such as SAS, STATA, Excel/VBA or R.
  • Knowledge of and experience in working with patient reported outcomes, time in motion studies, and healthcare resource utilisation data.
  • Knowledge of and experience in building economic models, obtaining input data, populating and validation of the models.
