Senior Research Associate in Business and Economics – International Centre for Future Health Systems

  • Employment Type: Full-time (35-hour week)
  • Duration: 5-year fixed term contract
  • Remuneration: $150k - $172k base (+ 17% super, leave loading)
  • Location: Randwick, NSW (Hybrid Flexible Working)

About the International Centre for Future Health Systems:

The International Centre for Future Health Systems is a newly established research, policy and advocacy initiative based at the University of New South Wales, with links to the University of Oxford, and supported by The Ian Potter Foundation, that aims to improve health systems to deliver equitable, sustainable and person-centred health care for all people. The Centre focuses ten years or more from now to explore what health systems should look like to best meet community needs. The Centre has adopted a truly interdisciplinary approach that includes not only experts from the health sector, but also from other disciplines including genomics, computer science, biotechnology, law and ethics, business and economics, social science and more.

Why This Role Matters:

A Senior Research Fellow is expected to make independent or original contributions to the research effort within their field of research expertise and to the International Centre for Future Health Systems. An academic at this level is expected to play a major role in research including the exercise of some leadership in research.

Some Key responsibilities:

  • Make independent contributions to research that have a significant impact in future health systems and create a nationally recognised research track record.
  • Undertake independent research in future health systems or related area (as per the norms of the discipline), making an independent contribution through professional practice and expertise.
  • Develop research groups in area of specialist expertise and research methods that are appropriate to future health systems.
  • Attract peer recognition and establish research network/s (based on the norms of the discipline) at national level.
  • Obtain research income from nationally competitive research grants (and/or research fellowships) and research end-users as a member or leader, at or above the level that is relevant to the discipline in leading universities.
  • Mentor and guide students, groups, and colleagues; supervise HDRs to timely completion as primary supervisor; and contribute to HDR review panels.
  • Maintain a strong linkage to researchers in the Faculty of Business.
  • Participate in and/or present at conferences and/or workshops as required.

Who You Are:

  • A PhD in a related discipline, and/or relevant work experience.
  • Proven commitment to proactively keeping up to date with discipline knowledge and developments.
  • Demonstrated track record in research with outcomes of high quality and high impact with clear evidence of the desire and ability to continually achieve research excellence as well as the capacity for research leadership.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team, collaborate across disciplines and build effective relationships.
  • Evidence of highly developed interpersonal and organisational skills.
