Why your role matters

The Indigenous Cultural and Intellectual Property (ICIP) Manager plays a crucial role in providing expert advice and support to the Chair of the ICIP Steering Committee. This position involves managing and reporting on the development and implementation of the University’s ICIP protocol and related activities.

The ICIP Manager is responsible for overseeing the entire process, from documenting and managing project delivery to identifying and implementing innovative solutions to challenges. Additionally, the role includes developing communication plans, engaging with stakeholders, and ensuring quality assurance throughout the process.

Reporting to the Chair of the ICIP Scoping Committee (Pro Vice-Chancellor Indigenous Engagement and Research), this position does not include direct staff management.

Specific accountabilities for this role include:  

  • Undertaking project management activities including: project planning and execution; project monitoring; quality management; budgeting, forecasting, and all associated reporting;
  • Supporting the development and management of several working groups to assist with the consultation and implementation of the ICIP protocol.
  • Developing and delivering a range of project documentation including briefing papers, lessons learnt reports, project plans, communications plans, and content for various communications channels ensuring stakeholders have been consulted for completeness, accuracy, accessibility, and cultural safety of information.
  • Facilitating collection and undertaking analysis of any relevant data to assist in the development and implementation of an ICIP protocol.

 

About You:

  • Relevant degree and substantial project management experience or equivalent competency gained through any other combination of education, training and/or experience. Relevant experience in the higher education sector is highly desirable.
  • Demonstrated awareness of ICIP issues with experience in managing and implementing initiatives to address identified needs.
  • Significant research, analysis and critical judgement skills, including the ability to synthesise large amounts of information and present in a succinct and professional manner.
  • Excellent organisational skills, proven ability to manage priorities, and conflicting needs while meeting deadlines.
  • High level interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills with demonstrated experience working with a range of stakeholders, including students, local community, and external organisation.
  • Proven high-level initiative, analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated initiative and ability to work in a dynamic, developing area, both independently and as part of a team, with the ability to work collegially and constructively with diverse stakeholders across UNSW and with external partners.
