The Centre for Social Impact UNSW (CSI UNSW) was established in 2008 and forms part of the highly respected CSI national network. Located in UNSW Business School, CSI UNSW develops people and partnerships that accelerate social innovations for a more sustainable and inclusive economy. It does this through engaged scholarship, generating research by working with organisations across the social economy, corporate sector, and government who are driving social impact. CSI UNSW offers undergraduate, postgraduate, and executive education courses with a focus on understanding and catalysing social innovation and impact.

The Senior Administrative Officer is responsible for leading and managing administrative services across the Education Portfolio within the Centre for Social Impact (CSI), utilising a depth of knowledge and experience in the field of higher education and serving as a primary point of contact. The role engages in independent analysis and interpretation across a diverse range of policies, accountabilities, and activities to support the achievement of the education portfolio’s objectives. The role reports to the Education Director and has no direct reports. We highly recommend applicants to apply with Senior Administrative Officer experience in the university sector!


Accountabilities:

  • Lead the administration team to coordinate general administration across the CSI UNSW Education Portfolio, delivering an efficient support service.
  • Manage and direct workflows within the administrative team, providing guidance and training to the administrators and other relevant staff where required.
  • Develop, implement and maintain systems and procedures to ensure a consistent approach for general administration and support, including document and records management, to ensure compliance with relevant policies and procedures.
  • Manage course administration matters including assisting with term planning, managing results processing, managing the preparation and release of course outlines and working on other administrative systems as required in the Education portfolio.
  • Provide expert advice and technical knowledge regarding administrative services to key stakeholders.
  • Act as the senior contact for key internal and external stakeholders, maintaining effective channels of communication, analysing requests and correspondence to prioritise priorities as well as urgent and often sensitive matters.
  • Oversee finance administration requests, including but not limited to, purchasing, travel, credit card reconciliation, expense reimbursements, payment requests and billing processes.
  • Provide senior administrative support to steering committees and other meetings as required.

  • Relevant tertiary qualification with subsequent relevant experience or equivalent competence gained through any combination of education, training and experience.
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills, and the ability to work well under pressure and manage multiple tasks with competing deadlines.
  • Demonstrated ability to supervise, influence and guide staff.
  • Highly advanced interpersonal, written and oral communication skills.
  • Demonstrated experience providing effective customer service and support to clients at all levels.
  • Highly proficient computer literacy with excellent skills in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to plan, organise and co-ordinate projects and tasks.
  • Excellent numeracy skills with the ability to understand and communicate financial information and monitor budgets.
  • An understanding of and commitment to UNSW’s aims, objectives and values in action, together with relevant policies and guidelines.
